Let's do something FUN in celebration of Spring! Everyone knows this time of year we are extremely low on food, and work hard to stretch everything to accommodate the need. The Need has been at around 9000 ish people a month for a bit now. We frequently ask for food donations and food drives, but lets do something a little different! This idea started at Faith Lutheran Church, and they are working on it right now. Donate a meal!! What is a favorite your family enjoys, or what is easy to make? Our average family it 3-4 people, Although we have families of 1-15 , 3-4 is the average. Get the fixings of a meal that your family enjoys or you think would be easy to prepare. Include instructions or recipes on what to do to make it , OR send me a video of your family preparing it with instructions and I will post it. Bag it all up and donate it to the pantry. We will give it to a family in need for them to fix and enjoy. BE CREATIVE!! You can just put it all in a box or bag or decorate the bag/box, or whatever fun thing you would like to do! Want to make a spring or Easter card for them, Cool! Its all about your imagination and creativity! Now don't get me wrong, if you just want to run a food drive or bring is some cases or food, we are THRILLED with that and honestly need every EXCEPT cereal, and we will be happy with that as well. Monetary donations are also always amazing and currently we have been offered a really great deal on fresh meat, but the min purchase is $6000, which we don't have. If we raise that in the next 2 weeks, we can order the meat, which will fill out freezers. Volunteers are at Pantry 279 to accept all donations Mon, Tues, and Wed 11-6 and Sat 11-3. We have 2 large wooden donation boxes ( looks like little sheds ) out back for all non perishables. Cash donations can be made via :
Paypal pantry279@yahoo.com
VENMO @pantry279
Webpage button www.pantry279.org
Snail mail: Pantry 279 P.O. Box 312, Ellettsville, IN 47429
Brought by or taken to Old National Bank, just tell them you want to put a donation in the Pantry 279 acct ending in 3398, they will be happy to do it for you.
Thank you everyone for always being to to help us feed our community year round. I look forward to see everyone's favorite meals and what great ideas you have! Please SHARE

What a nice way to be together and celebrate Corrie’s life. She was always there to help others. She will be missed very much.
She was the sweetest person. I looked forward to seeing her every time I pulled into the pantry.
We are needing a Driver for Wed and Tues to deliver food to those in need. Some of our drivers have had changes in jobs and no longer have the time to do them. Pick up is between noon and 2 at the pantry and most routes take about an hourish. Please PM, Email ( pantry279@yahoo.com ) or call ( 812-606-1524 ) ... See MoreSee Less

I will come. Back from my trip on the 22nd.
Last summer, a wonderful person donated about 10 cases of Instant Ink Printer paper. We have been surviving off all of these months, but are now on our last pack. We print A LOT, I wish we didn't have to have all of this paperwork and such, but we do. If anyone has or would lke to donate some plain white, regular size printer paper, we would be so thankful! Thank you!! ... See MoreSee Less

With a heavy heart, I am posting to inform you all that Corrie Scott, the Pastor's wife, and long time volunteer at the Pantry, sadly passed away last Thursday morning. I didn't post for a while as it came as such a blow to all of us, and out of respect to the family. Corrie was our friendly greeter that put the number of households on the cars, chatted with everyone, passed out helpful information to those who need it , and was just a great friend to literally EVERYONE who came to the Pantry 279.
She came to us when Pastor started with Trinity Lutheran in 2017, but became a full time volunteer when the Covid-19 lock downs happened in 2020. She worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic and beyond to help make sure the pantry continued on. She was always there as a spunky cheerleader when any of us were down, or just thought we were too tired to continue. She was a shoulder to cry on when we were so stressed and didn't see how we were ever going to keep going at this pace. I can't tell you how many times she stayed after to offer a listening ear and encouragement to me. She was the same with any guest who came to the pantry! No matter what your problem was or stressor, she was there to listen, offer a hug, and see if there was a program that might help you out. Everyone LOVED Corrie! And she has been like this all of her life. Some people are born to help others, help the world, that's Corrie. She has been all over the world helping in many communities, including in Africa and Japan. She felt her purpose here was to help others, and she did a fabulous job!
A month ago, Corrie disappeared from the pantry after breaking her arm on a walk. Many have been asking after her. A couple of weeks after the bad break, she suffered a diabetic set back and a heart attack. Last week, everyone thought she'd be back home in a week or so, but sadly, this was not to be, and she suffered Liver and kidney failure, and passed to the next stage in life.
Her celebration of Life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church Sat March 11 at 2pm, ALL are welcome. We will be having a memorial dinner for anyone pantry, volunteers, guests, supporters, anyone who wants to just have a nice pitch in meal and remember Corrie. This will be announced when we get a firmer date.
Corrie is and will be greatly missed by all.

This shot is not very clear, but if this is the woman I am thinking of, this is so sad. She was always so kind and friendly, and it was evident she cared about people. I haven't been to the pantry in a while, so I would not have known she was missing. Hugs to all of you.

That's right! You can order your favorite Girl Scout Cookies from me online, all while helping my troop and I do great things in our community and beyond! Check it out.In our 7th cookie season together, we’ve ran into a snag! After selling their butts off and having two of the best booths they’ve EVER had, the girls have over 300 boxes of cookies left that we HAVE to sell π knowing we’ve hounded everyone we know to buy more cookies, we’ve decided to honor the upcoming Girl Scout Week by donating our remaining boxes to Pantry 279, a food pantry started in 2015 by a group of Girl Scout Cadettes (just like my girls!). But!! We need your help because we are still responsible for the cost of the cookies. If you could spare some dollars by sponsoring a box, a few boxes, half a case, or a case to be donated, we would be so grateful!! Follow our troop link and select ‘Girl Delivery’ then enter the number of boxes you’d like to contribute in our available inventory. Our need is $1,926 in order to donate and provide 300 families with a box of cookies to brighten their day!
Shout out to Ellettsville Dominos AND IGA for getting us bags for today and rest of the week. Thank you!!!! ... See MoreSee Less
