🌟 July Volunteer of the Month: Chris 🌟
Chris has a true heart for serving others and has become an invaluable part of our pantry family. He believes that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, and he lives that belief through his actions every day. Whether he’s greeting clients with a warm smile and kind words, running our Oolitic location for the Children’s Summer Food Program, or making deliveries whenever an extra driver is needed, Chris consistently goes above and beyond.
Recently, while returning our pantry van after completing deliveries, Chris witnessed a driver experiencing a medical emergency at a stoplight. Without hesitation, he put the van in park, rushed to help, safely stopped the driver’s vehicle, removed him from the car, administered Narcan, and performed CPR while others called 911. Thanks to his quick thinking, courage, and willingness to act, the individual began breathing again before emergency personnel arrived and was transported to the hospital, where he recovered.
Chris exemplifies compassion, selflessness, and service—not only through the countless hours he volunteers, but also through his readiness to help whenever someone is in need.
It is with great appreciation that we recognize Chris as our July Volunteer of the Month. Thank you, Chris, for making a difference in our community and inspiring us all through your kindness and dedication. ❤️

It's going to be even hotter today! We plan on being open as per norm! A few things though, we KNOW it's hot, and we've been working hard in it since 10am this morning. Our AC is broke, so we are running fans and trying to keep the doors as closed as much as possible. We have no room to let people hang out inside of the building, BUT we are providing a cooler with cold waters for drinking and another cooler with cooling towels in cold water for people to use outside. When you are done with the towel and are leaving, please put towel in the cart so we can wash them and use again another day. These were purchased with our personal money, so we are asking you to please return them before you leave. Drink the water and stay hydrated! We are all going as fast as we can, thank you for your patience! Together we will get through this too.
