Pantry279 is celebrating 10 years of serving our community. We started in a tiny church bus bay with nothing but a few shelves, a few hands, and a whole lot of determination. Ten years later, that little corner has grown into a lifeline for thousands of families each year.
To every volunteer, donor, partner, and neighbor who has stood with us along the way: you turned a simple idea into a powerful force for good. You’ve helped us move food, hope, and dignity into homes that needed it most.
Here’s to the first decade in the books, and to the next one waiting to be written. Thank you for believing in this work and building it right beside us. 🧡🥫

Gobblepalooza is heating up. We’re already at 900 turkeys on our way to 1,400, and this little turkey is cheering us on. The community is coming through in a huge way. Let’s keep it rolling so every family gets a full Thanksgiving table.

We’re almost at max capacity for Thanksgiving sign-ups. If you or someone you know still needs to register, today may be the last day. Sign up here: pantry279.org/thanksgiving/receive-a-meal

With so many families counting on us, we’ll definitely need continued financial and food donations to cover everyone. But thanks to this amazing community, we’re making real headway. Every bit of help moves us closer to a full table for every home.

I know this will not be a popular post, but Health Dept says no dogs around the food, unless trained service dogs. Also, after yesterday's aggressive dogs and owners at the pantry, who were supposed to be service dogs, but were clearly not, I feel the need to post this. True service animals are very welcome at Pantry 279 , and while we love animals, for the safety of our staff and guests, and hygiene purposes, please understand and follow these requests. Thank you. ... See MoreSee Less

A day in the life with Traci at Pantry279 looks a little different. While the front room stays busy, she’s in the back tackling the paperwork mountain that keeps this whole place running. Quiet work, big impact. Pantry magic needs a steady hand, and she’s got it.

What a day of love and kindness! Even though we were closed today, a few of us came in to accept donations, as the shelves were mostly empty after Wednesday, plus....Thanksgiving. Wow! We are overwhelmed and so thankful! The pic is from a donation of food from Ava's Waste Removal & their clients. Cook Medical from Ellettsville not only donated several hundred pounds of food, but the 2 ladies who delivered it, stayed and helped us weigh and put things away! Amy from Caffeinated Cook, dropped 4 turkeys and a whole bunch of Thanksgiving items. Crane came by with 10 more turkeys. Attorney Paul Baugh dropped off a generous check. Many, many people came with cash and food donations. We are at 900 turkeys now! We have 2 more pallets of various Thanksgiving food, and our shelves for Saturday look AMAZING! We will be open for donations Sat. 10-3, and distribution of food 1-3. You all Rock!! ... See MoreSee Less

This year is more difficult than any other, as we are trying to burn the candle at both ends. We have our Thanksgiving Distribution that we are trying to get everything for, yet with all that is going on, it is near impossible to keep food on the shelves. I want to personally thank everyone who has been bringing food and monetary donations, and for everyone who has been sending Amazon to my house! I came home tonight to several boxes of food on my porch! Exciting!! But as promised, here is what is still needed for Thanksgiving:
Turkeys 559 or money to buy them.
Tofurkys ( vegan turkey roast ) 20
Hamburger for lasagna kits 200
Lasagna noodles 199
Large jar of pasta sauce 180
Stuffing 1800
Mashed potatoes 800
Gravy packets 5000 ( we have 0 )
Mac n cheese 1288
Canned yams 1500
Green Beans 3000
Corn 3000
Cream of mushroom 1800
Cranberry sauce 900
Cornbread mix 2200
Dessert ( Fruit or pumpkin pie filling, cake mix, pudding mix, etc ) 2130

I know these sound huge, but they are less than what we started with. 2500 families is about 20,000+ people. This is not only providing food, but hope and dignity, family bonding, and a sense or normality with a holiday meal. Imagine telling your kids, we are not having a Thanksgiving meal this year because we can't afford it.
Even though we are closed, we will be at pantry tomorrow 10-4 for donations. Food is great, and for those who can't get out or don't want to shop, but want to help: Cash donations can be sent via:
Paypal Pantry279@yahoo.com
Cash App $pantry279
Our website pantry279.org/thanksgiving/contribute/donate-money
Mailed: Pantry 279 P.O. Box 312, Ellettsville, IN 47429
Or just brought to pantry at 3609 IN 46, Bloomington IN

Thank you for allowing us to serve our community and Please Share
