This year is more difficult than any other, as we are trying to burn the candle at both ends. We have our Thanksgiving Distribution that we are trying to get everything for, yet with all that is going on, it is near impossible to keep food on the shelves. I want to personally thank everyone who has been bringing food and monetary donations, and for everyone who has been sending Amazon to my house! I came home tonight to several boxes of food on my porch! Exciting!! But as promised, here is what is still needed for Thanksgiving:
Turkeys 559 or money to buy them.
Tofurkys ( vegan turkey roast ) 20
Hamburger for lasagna kits 200
Lasagna noodles 199
Large jar of pasta sauce 180
Stuffing 1800
Mashed potatoes 800
Gravy packets 5000 ( we have 0 )
Mac n cheese 1288
Canned yams 1500
Green Beans 3000
Corn 3000
Cream of mushroom 1800
Cranberry sauce 900
Cornbread mix 2200
Dessert ( Fruit or pumpkin pie filling, cake mix, pudding mix, etc ) 2130
I know these sound huge, but they are less than what we started with. 2500 families is about 20,000+ people. This is not only providing food, but hope and dignity, family bonding, and a sense or normality with a holiday meal. Imagine telling your kids, we are not having a Thanksgiving meal this year because we can't afford it.
Even though we are closed, we will be at pantry tomorrow 10-4 for donations. Food is great, and for those who can't get out or don't want to shop, but want to help: Cash donations can be sent via:

Hey Everyone, This is Cindy. I need help. If you are running a Thanksgiving Food Drive for us, can you PLEASE do a quick count and see where you are with your item or items and PM me, email me ( pantry279@yahoo.com ) or text me 812 -606-1524. I need to know where we stand on the food items. I know where we are with meats, but nothing else and we do not have much in yet and am getting worried. Before I go asking for money to buy Thanksgiving foods, I need to get an idea where we stand so I don't over buy. Of course anything left over from Thanksgiving will go to those who did not make it on the Thanksgiving list or on the shelves.
Thank you!!

As expected, we had a crazy day! BUT we made it thanks to all of the extra help! 291 families, which is 800 people, were able to get food today due to all of you who came to volunteer and all of you who kept bringing in food and money for food. Now we work on Saturday. Clothing only pantry is Thurs 11-4, donations can be dropped off as well. We will have someone at pantry for donations only Friday. We are not open for distribution but people can drop donations off from 10-3. Thank you everyone for keeping this going and making sure all get food! ... See MoreSee Less

Today was hard.....Tomorrow will be harder......
We welcomed so many new faces today, as a significant amount of federal workers, who just are out of $$ came to get food. They continue to work, unpaid, for their community. But the money has dried up and no paycheck in sight. Some drove a long distance, as their was no closer help.
Tomorrow morning, Nov 5, when families wake up and there is no money on that SNAP card, real panic will happen. I already have moms saying " I don't need to eat, as long as my children get food." BUT these Moms and Dads WORK, they have JOBS, just not jobs that pay enough to afford all the food they need. They must eat to work.
We remain here. We remain strong. We will work together, and do what must be done to get the food out. I am not alone in this, other food banks, pantries, and kitchens feel the same way. We need every ones' help! We all do. Food donations, any size, money donations, any size. We will get thru this, people will have food, because we spread hope, kindness, and love. 1

All day I have been ask 2 questions: Will families get EBT ( SNAP) now that it is court ordered? and What do you guys need?
1. EBT is a very Gray area. Trump said he was going to release HALF of the funds for Nov. but that is all. However, he is not sure how fast this can happen. It has been stated that HALF may not even come for a few weeks or longer. SO it's not a lot of help immediately.
2. What do we need? WOW that is a big one. We still need so many Thanksgiving things as we are almost at our 2500 box limit. Of course Money is usually great, as we get very deep discounts. That being said, Thanksgiving still needs turkeys, canned yams, desserts ( pie filling, pudding, cake mixes, etc ), cranberry sauce, gravy packets, stuffing, green beans, corn, jiffy cornbread mix, cream of mushroom, and mac n cheese. But due to the current situation, our shelves are in bad need of love as well, so pasta. pasta sauce, canned meats, canned beans esp baked beans, spagettio type things, SOUPS, ramen, pasta and rice dishes like knorr noodles or rice a roni, oatmeal, baking items like flour, oils, and sugar, baby formula, etc. Honestly, we are NOT picky, we are thrilled with anything. Yes we take perishables, yes we take produce, yes we have a donation box out back for non perishables.
