Just a reminder, tomorrow is our dine to donate at red Robin in Plainfield. All you have to do is eat there in percentage of your meal gets donated to the food pantry.

It's Crunch time! Elections are over, no matter how you feel or whom you voted for, I thing we ALL believe the everyone must eat, and ALL people deserve a Thanksgiving meal. Let's do what we do best and come together to make sure this happens.
We still need many, many things for Thanksgiving, and we currently have over 2300 families signed up ( only a little under 200 spots left open ). We still need money to pay for the rest of the meats and any food not donated.
Foods still needed other than meat:
Gravy Packets 4100
Stuffing 2300
Yams 3000
Corn 4000
Green Beans 4150
Cream of Mushroom soup 2481
Cranberry sauce 2000
Dessert things ( Cake mix, pudding, canned pumpkin, etc ) 1925

Salt/Pepper shakers filled 2500

Parmesan cheese 225

YES!! We are open normal hours today, so go vote and we will see you soon. Today is also bread truck day, unlimited beautiful bread items. Sliced, buns, bagel, english muffins, flat bread, keto, carb friendly, gluten free....all of it!

11 years ago, there was a Girl Scout Troop...... Here is the annual retelling of our origination story, as requested by Vern.
Pantry 279 was started by 10 girl scouts in from Edgewood Jr High as a project to earn their silver award. The girls came to our scout meeting one day very upset and talking about some friends at school who sat at their table and had been asking for the left over food they were throwing away. My daughter was nominated to ask Why they were wanting their "gross" food. They were informed that the only food these 2 sisters got was at school and they were saving it in their lockers for the weekend. We talked about food banks and food pantries at that meeting and the girls said Let's build a food pantry!! And I said NO, that is a LOT of work, but I went home and felt bad as I was always telling them "Go big or go home" & "If you put in the work, you can accomplish anything" So I went back at the next meeting, tried to talk some sense into them, and well....we built a food pantry. It took to years of research, visiting other pantries, cookie money (a LOT of cookie money ) and what the girls termed, the Bank of Grandpa. Trinity Lutheran Church was kind enough to let us use their bus bay as the pantry, providing we cleaned it out. That was the fastest and quietest deep clean I have ever seen these girls do!. They build the shelves, and I learned do NOT let tweens and young teens use a nail gun......They painted the shelves all different colors ( and the grass, and the pavement, and each other ) And on Nov 2, 2015 we opened for the first time!
